The Room

Updated: Aug 22, 2022

a poem by Laureline Latour
illustrated by Esmé Gilbert
Unread books and heavy memories
come flashing under your eyelids
you forgot the letters on the keyboard
you forgot the unsent letters under your bed
all so painful memories
memories never die
you could try running away from the room
closing the door
closing the window
memories bite your skin
memories tear you apart
you’ll never break free
the room is not a place
the room flows in your veins
like a poison that feels like a remedy.
